According to the 2024 CDW Cloud Computing Research Report, about 45% of organizations have already moved at least half of their applications to public clouds. Furthermore, 35% of organizations plan to shift at least half of their remaining applications to the cloud within the next three years, suggesting that many will maintain at least three-quarters of their applications on public clouds by 2027.
Benefits of Cloud Adoption
Organizations report several benefits from cloud adoption, including improved reliability and recovery capabilities (57%), enhanced security (48%), increased accessibility for remote users (55%), and overall greater agility and efficiency (51%). Many businesses feel that moving internal processes to the cloud has met their expectations and requirements.
Challenges in Cloud Integration
Organizations encounter various challenges during cloud integration, with 49% citing difficulties in maintaining the security of on-premises assets and 41% mentioning the inflexibility of on-premises data centers. Additionally, budget constraints are a concern, particularly for smaller businesses, with half of those with fewer than 1,000 employees indicating cost as a limiting factor.
